Tara Dixon
Tara Dixon is a mixed media painter, muralist, illustrator and arts educator. She has maintained a studio in Dumbo since 1997. With a BA from Connecticut College she started out working in the fashion department at Glamour. She went on to study at The Art Students League and was a teacher’s assistant at The New School. She had her own window display business and assisted top window dresser Tod Shearer as well as working for Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman Men. She taught art at The Packer Collegiate Institute, The Living and Laughter Studio and Creatively Wild as well as out of her own studio using a method she developed called Talk And Response Art. She had led art retreats in the USA, Iceland and Bali where she lived for one year in 2018. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections. Her mural work focuses on the theme of LOVE and she is a proponent of Gratitude having made 40 paintings with the words “thank you” etched into them in 2010. She is the mother to one son, Miles.
