Point Person
Stefan Killen
Stefan Killen has been taking pinhole photographs of New York City since 1991. His photos have been exhibited at the Alan Klotz Gallery, at the Center for Book Arts, and in shows juried by Larry Gagosian and Molly Barnes. His work was included in the award-winning book Out of Focus: Pinhole Cameras and Pinhole Photographs, in United Airlines’ in-flight magazine Hemispheres, and has been featured on numerous culture blogs and movie and tv sets.
Stefan is working on several books of his pinhole photography, including an interdisciplinary meditation on Walt Whitman’s poem “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry”. In celebration of Whitman’s 2019 bicentennial he developed “Happy Birthday, Walt Whitman!”, a national public reading of the poem that offered participants an introduction to Whitman’s sweeping meditation on time, our interconnectedness, and the transcendent power of art.
Stefan grew up in Switzerland and lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
