Alexander Gorlizki

    About

Alexander Gorlizki is a Brooklyn-based English artist who exhibits internationally. He’s had a studio at 68 Jay Street since 2013 and has also maintained a studio in Jaipur, India, where he’s been working collaboratively with a number of artists and artisans for the past 23 years. Best known for his drawings rooted in the centuries-old tradition of Indian miniature painting, he also works across a wide range of sculptural processes and fabric designs as well as video and installations.

The studio in DUMBO is a microcosm of the artist’s world- a colorful and whimsical cross between a playground, workshop and storage space including his works in progress, collections of found objects and artists’ ephemera.

Alexander is also behind “Magic Markings” a collection of Indian spiritual and vernacular drawings based on Hindu, Jain and Tantric cosmology. Some of these collections have been exhibited at the Outsider Art Fair, NY as well as other exhibitions in the US and Europe.

The studio is open to visitors during Open Studios events and by appointment
